Girl Boss NZ

Ekam Minhas 13B7 received a full scholarship to attend the NZ GirlBoss 'We the Women Hackathon', a two-day event dedicated to using technology for social impact. Selected from hundreds of applicants across NZ, she joined a team of young women to develop solutions addressing United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, and specifically Target 5.2, aiming to end all forms of violence and abuse against women and girls.MORE

During the July school holidays, current Year 12 student, Bardia Malek 12E2, completed a five-day Gateway placement at Dental Planet Manukau, where he gained first-hand insight into the dental profession.MORE

Uxbridge Fridays@Twelve

On Friday 12 June, the Jazz Band, Chamber groups, and the Choir performed at the Fridays@Twelve concert in the Uxbridge Arts and Culture Centre. The concert opened with the chamber trio “CCO” performing a wonderful trio for piano, and two trumpets. The Jazz Band, led by Mr Hamish Arthur, performed three spectacular pieces before performances by the trios “Triplet” and “Mung, Soy, & Red Bean”. Last but not least, the Choir, led by Mr Anthony Young, sang three pieces to end the performance off with a bang.MORE

On Saturday 16 May, our band “Alouette” represented BDSC at the annual Smokefreerockquest Manukau Heats, held at The Dorothy Winstone Centre. Smokefreerockquest is the biggest live original music event for young musicians around Aotearoa. MORE

This year, three BDSC groups participated in the TOI wearable arts competition. TOI translates to art and is run in collaboration with the world-renowned World of Wearable Art. The competition is about making a garment from recycled resources using your imagination to bring ideas to life.MORE
